Interest Groups are available for all members and you can join any time during the year. Please contact the group leader by phone or email for additional details on any interest group's activities.
Antique Exploring – Nona Stacks and Patsy Viles
Meets once a month and travels to various antique stores in North Georgia. Great way to get to know the area and add to your collections.
Bunko – Reneigh Satterfield
Meets on second Monday in various members’ homes. Bunko is a dice game – easy to play and lots of fun.
Couples’ Bridge – Rosalie Minnich and Jeanie Para
Meets on a Friday evening once a month.
Dining Out – Eleanor Coppedge and Judie Meyer
This group meets at various restaurants around our area on the third Thursday at 6:30pm. It’s a great way to get to know other members and some of our great eating places. Husbands are welcome.
Gardening – Linda Harris
This is a new group being led by a Master Gardener. Join us to learn more about what will grow in this area, outings to nurseries and members’ gardens, or just to find out more about what’s growing in your yard.
Golf – Lori McEachin
Our golfers play on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month from mid-March through November. Most outings will be at Chicopee Woods, but we will also visit other local courses.
Gourmet – Ann Curry and Pinky Pearce (this group is closed after the October meeting)
Great activity for couples and to get your husband involved. Groups of 4 couples meet at a member’s home for a pot-luck meal.
Hiking Group – Anne Toopes and Peggy Barfield
Explore the North Georgia mountains on foot with this group. Hikes range from easy to pretty hard. Check each month for our planned outing.
Jet Skiing – Beth Andert
Learn more about Lake Lanier from the water! This group meets every Thursday (almost) from May through September.
Ladies’ Bridge – Pam Cohan and Bonnie Hartwig
Join this group on the third Monday from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Longhorn Steak House. Experienced and novice players are welcome.
Mah Jong – Linda Harris
Mah Jong is a Chinese tile game. The group meets the second and fourth Tuesdays at Linda’s home. They play a Chinese hand and a Western hand. Open to all skill levels.
Morning Coffee – Paula Pilgrim and Patsy Amidei
Meets once a month. Great way to meet members in a relaxed small-group setting.
Painting Group – Jan Blahnik
Meets every Thursday at Jan’s home! Beginners will meet on the last Thursday of the month. Experienced painters will meet all other Thursdays.
Quilting Group – Joan Sievenpiper
Meets on first Wednesday of the month at Joan’s home. Bring your sewing machine and learn new techniques or work on hand work. Lots of great ideas and skills to be shared.
Reading Group – Gertrud Rocco
Meets on third Thursday at 10:00am at different members’ homes. Call to find out the current book!
Scrapbooking/Photo Organization – Lynne Whalen and Debbie Flanagan
Meets on the second Friday at Lynne Whalen’s home from 11:00am until 2:00pm (or whenever). Perfect for avid scrapbookers, beginners, or anyone who is just trying to get their piles of photos in order!
Special Care – Alison McElvery
Sign up and be on call when special care is needed for one of our members who lives close to you. Special care normally is a dinner when someone is too ill to cook or is hospitalized, a ride to the doctor’s office or even to a luncheon.
Sun, Sail, & Ale – Gerda Baitis
Fantastic activity to include husbands! Join the host by car or sometimes by boat. This group meets one Sunday a month from 3-5pm. Bring a dish to share and your own drink.
Sunset Cruise – Sherrie Dixon
Join the group on a 60-foot houseboat for a cruise on Lake Lanier to view the sunset. Everyone is asked to bring something to drink and munchies. Cost of fuel is shared (usually about $7). Sherrie’s boat leaves from Sunrise Cove Marina one hour before sunset. Check the calendar for specific dates.
Warm Up America – Amy Schick
This group knits/crochets afghans and baby items that are donated to the Red Cross and Newborns in Need. All skill levels are welcome (even beginners). Donated yarn is also appreciated. Meets third Tuesday of the month at Amy’s home from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
